Parental WorkshopParental sessions are paired with youth workshops usually last one hour preferably the day before the workshop. Through research it has been proven that Muslim parents often have misconceptions about the program and need to increase awareness of this prevalent issue within our communities. During the parental session, Shaakira will briefly review the background and significance of sex education in Muslim communities and discuss the highlights of the program. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to Dr. Shaakira. The goal of the parental workshop is to help parents realize that they are the primary sex educators of their children.

Full InterventionDelivers a strong evidence based tailored curriculum proven effective with Muslim Youth. This intervention includes interactive activities, discussions and a mentor for Muslim youth faced with the pressures of premarital sex. During this 2 day seminar, youth are given the tools to navigate through a sexually charged society. An important piece of this intervention are role plays and open discussions. Role plays are known to solidify knowledge and skills learned throughout the intervention. Role playing provides youth with an opportunity to put in practice what they learn in real life scenarios.
The intervention fosters a safe space for youth to voice their opinions and questions through a guided discussion infused with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. |
